Lua Crescente – Waxing Moon

Each piece takes its form from the moon jar, the iconic 17th century porcelain vessels celebrated for their minimalist design and white glaze. 

Each Sul Clay moon is hand built, not thrown and where the moon jar’s gesture stays constant, the surface here becomes the variable. Lua Nova carries a dark glaze with a gilded rim, like the first sliver of light breaking the dark. Lua Crescente is left in raw, unglazed clay then carved and each cavity filled and fired with white slip. Lua Cheia is finished in a crackled white porcelain surface, weathered and fully exposed.

Together the three trace a quiet lunar progression: dark to partial to full, each jar a different surface state of the same essential form.
